Ryan Capes' World Record Motorcycle Jump photograph

Grand Sierra Resort celebrated the opening of its newest venue, Xtreme Sports Bar + Lounge with a record-breaking jump by nationally recognized motocross rider Ryan Capes.

Thousands of people packed the front of Grand Sierra Resort to be part of the historic day and watch Ryan break the world record ramp-to-ramp motocross jump. On Capes first jump he broke the record clearing a amazing 287 feet over the previous record of 252 feet set by Jason Rennie in 1999. However that wasn’t good enough for Capes...

“I promised my fans not only was I going to break the ramp-to-ramp world record, I promised my fans that I’d be the first guy to jump ramp-to-ramp 300 feet,” Capes said.

So after some adjustment to the ramp distance, Ryan throttled towards the take off ramp going over 80mph, and soared over the crowd, jumping an incredible 316 feet, leaving no question that he is “the king of distance motocross jumping”.

After the world record jump the Livfast team continued to wow the crowd with their phenomenal acrobatic trick jumps. The talented Livfast team of riders included Jesse Jolson, Greg Stevens, Kenny Bell, Greg Garrison, Dustin Miller, Matt Buyten, Brian Foster, Adam Jones, Mike Mason, Drake McElroy, Beau Bamburg, Derek Burley and others.

Festivities continued into the evening with a rockin’ and rollin’ performance by Mini Kiss, the biggest, little Kiss Tribute band. Along with Mini Kiss were live performances by Audioboxx and DJ Euera during the after-party in Xtreme Sports Bar + Lounge.

In attendance were football star Charles Mann, Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons, Mayor Bob Cashell and local Olympic skier Tim Jitloff, snowboarding stars Eric Jackson and other well-known professional snowboarders, wake boarders and extreme sports enthusiasts.

Ryan’s Bike: Dubbed the “Destroyer” by Capes, the morphed ’09 special edition Monster Energy/Kawasaki KX250F also features Showa “A-stuff” works suspension, a Pro Circuit motor tune and titanium fasteners, nuts and bolts everywhere, courtesy of Met Tec. “Destroyer will weigh less than 200 pounds – some 40 pounds less than my previous KX450F that I set the world distance record on this past year, 391’-4’’ in Washington,” says Capes.

Sierra Comstock Tours

The tour begins by departing Grand Sierra Resort and heading West on Highway 80 as we drive to Truckee, California. After a driving tour of beautiful Truckee, we then head South on Highway 267 until we reach scenic Lake Tahoe! We will stop for several photo opportunities including a short stop in North Lake Tahoe at the world famous CalNeva Resort (once owned by Frank Sinatra). Be sure to take the famous picture standing on the marked state line running through the Casino. The Tour continues around the North/East shoreline of Lake Tahoe (giving you amazing views) until we reach South Lake Tahoe. Here we will stop for 2(1/2) hours to give you time to enjoy the Lake and have lunch. Many of our guests take advantage of the many shopping opportunities including the area’s only Hard Rock Café, or take the Heavenly Gondola Ride to the top of the mountain for some of the most spectacular photo opportunities of the Sierras. Our journey continues with a driving tour of Carson City (Nevada's State Capital) and continues until we reach the historic town of Virginia City (once considered "The Richest Place on Earth"). Around $400 million in gold and silver was discovered here in the 1800's. With 1(1/2) hours you will have plenty of time to take the Ponderosa Saloon Mine Tour, ride the trains, or just relax with a drink in the "Bucket of Blood Saloon" which was featured on the television series Bonanza. Enjoy shopping and browsing in dozens of unique little shops and get a true taste of The Old West! The tour ends with an amazing view of Reno as you come down the mountain from Virginia City to Reno. A deposit is required at the time of reservation with the balance due and payable to the tour driver. The driver accepts cash only. Tour cost does not include lunch or cost of activities. (rates subject to change and availibility) Please contact Grand Sierra Adventures for rates, times and availibility information.
