Howdy ya’all! This year’s Reno Rodeo will be held June 14-23 at the Reno Livestock Events Center. For the third year in a row, the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is proud to be a sponsor of one of Northern Nevada’s favorite pastimes. This historical 10-day event brings over 140,000 people together and generates more than $42 million for the Reno economy, as well as over $400,000 in donations to the local Reno/Sparks community through the Reno Rodeo Foundation. Additionally, the Reno Rodeo has been listed as one of the Top 12 Rodeos Every Fan Should See.
Founded in 1919 and sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the Reno Rodeo is a non-profit event that is only made possible with its more than 350 annual volunteers. Along with the rodeo events, the Reno Rodeo also features a carnival, marketplace, food vendors, and even Cowboy Church! Rodeo performances include bull riding, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronco riding, bareback riding, and women’s barrel racing. For ten days, the Reno Rodeo turns Nevada into a country western hoorah for cowboys and cowgirls alike.
Known as the Richest Rodeo in the West, the Reno Rodeo has certainly left it’s mark in Reno, and we’re not just talking about from the cattle. Here are some historical moments from the Reno Rodeo:
During the course of the event, Reno’s best country western bar, Mustangs Dance Hall and Saloon inside the Grand Sierra will host the best live country music in Reno. To kick off the event, Seven Days Gone will play June 14-16. Whiskey Dawn will close out the Reno Rodeo from June 21-23. And of course, the best place to stay in Reno during the Reno Rodeo is at the Grand Sierra! So, cowboys and cowgirls of Nevada, round up your posse and we’ll see ya’ll in June! Yeeeee-haw!
