Fresh off their stint at Coachella, indie rockers The Shins played to a crowd of swaying and swooned fans at Grand Sierra in Reno on April 25. Fronted by the highly idolized James Mercer, The Shins captured a majority of their fan base after their music was featured in the 2004 film Garden State. Years later, support for The Shins is stil clear as seen by the over 1,000 in attendance for a night of great entertainment in Reno. Along with Garden State's "New Slang," The Shins played a mellow set with other fan favorites like "Sleeping Lessons," "Simple Song," and "Australia." As a night of refined vocals and longing lyrics concluded, Mercer branched off from the band to perform an acoustic encore featuring "September."
Gardens and Villas, a similarly indie pop band to The Shins opened.
