Living La Vida Loca

Born Enrique Martin Morales, Ricky Martin rocked the American music scene with his hit, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” which propelled his career forward and gained him phenomenal world-wide success. It is seen as the song that began the Latin pop explosion in 1999.

Singer, Songwriter and Actor

Ricky Martin began his musical career when he was only 12 years old. He joined all-boy pop group Menudo, though he had already achieved some fame in Puerto Rico for his work in TV commercials. After five years with Menudo he decided to leave the group in 1989 to re-evaluate his career path. By November 1991 Ricky Martin released his first solo album, Ricky Martin and then throughout the following decade released several Spanish solo albums. He also worked as an actor in Mama Ama el Rock (a play in Mexico City), and then moved on to Mexican TV.

American Music Success

To say the least Ricky Martin has been busy and seen extraordinary success both as a musician and as a Latin Pop artist. He has sold more than 80 million albums and has had nearly 100 platinum records, six No. 1 Billboard™ albums, and 11 No. 1 hit songs. His awards include two American Music Awards®, six Grammy® Awards, eight World Music Awards™, 10 Billboard Music Awards and eight MTV® Music Video Awards.

His success both as a Spanish actor, singer and songwriter and his success in America as a Latin pop artist made the step for other Latin artists to transition into the American Latin pop scene. His career has spanned more than 3 decades and his talent is as impressive as his music. He has seen success as a songwriter, actor, and author and most recently as a singing coach on The Voice Australia and The Voice Mexico. He is also the father to twin boys.
