RENO, Nev. (Oct. 21, 2025) – Furthering its commitment to local education and community development, Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) has donated $15,000 to Robert Mitchell Elementary School in Sparks. The unrestricted gift will help fund extracurricular programs, sports equipment and activities that foster teamwork, school spirit and a love of learning.
“We’re honored to continue our partnership with Robert Mitchell Elementary and to play a small part in helping students reach their full potential,” said Shannon Keel, general manager and president of Grand Sierra Resort. “Our local schools are at the heart of this community, and it’s important to us to invest in their success.”
Keel and members of the GSR Cares committee personally presented the donation during a school assembly, continuing a partnership that has helped the school expand access to programs and opportunities not covered by traditional funding sources.
“Grand Sierra Resort’s continued generosity makes a tangible difference for our students,” said Principal Kristen Conway. “Their donations have allowed us to hire a gym teacher, purchase sports equipment, and provide activities that give students more reasons to love coming to school. This support helps reduce extracurricular costs for families while encouraging teamwork, physical activity and fun both on the playground and in the classroom.”
This partnership is part of GSR Cares, the charitable division of Grand Sierra Resort dedicated to supporting local initiatives and organizations that help uplift the region and benefit those in need. Through GSR Cares, the resort provides contributions, volunteer support, and event sponsorships throughout Northern Nevada.
