RENO, Nev. (Oct. 28, 2025) – Furthering its commitment to local education and community development, Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) has donated $15,000 to Vaughn Middle School in Reno. The unrestricted gift will help fund the school’s Eagle Bucks Store, which provides students with unique rewards for extraordinary educational behavior.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to support the incredible educators and students at Vaughn Middle School,” said Shannon Keel, general manager and president of Grand Sierra Resort. “Together, we can help build meaningful experiences that enrich learning and open new doors for every student.”
Keel and members of the GSR Cares committee personally presented the donation during the school’s morning assembly, where students were also honored with achievement awards, showcasing the power of the donation and continuing a partnership that has helped the school expand access to programs and opportunities not covered by traditional funding sources.
“We’re incredibly grateful for Grand Sierra Resort’s continued belief in our students,” said Principal Mandy Lobkowicz. “Without the GSR’s generous donation, we wouldn’t be able to provide the students with incentives for improved attendance, increased academic achievement and positive, good behavior. Their support strengthens our school community and helps our Eagles SOAR.”
This partnership is part of GSR Cares, the charitable division of GSR dedicated to supporting local initiatives and organizations that help uplift the region and benefit those in need. Through GSR Cares, the resort provides contributions, volunteer support, and event sponsorships throughout Northern Nevada.
