Dance champions Maks, Val & Peta are bringing their jaw-dropping talents to Reno. Grand Sierra Resort is proud to host the trio’s Live on Tour: Confidential show on May 11th. But before the curtain opens, let’s learn more about these award-winning ballroom dance champions, choreographers, and instructors.
A History of Maks, Val & Peta
It all started with family. Before Maksim (Maks) and Valentin (Val) Chmerkovskiy won over America’s hearts, they were just brothers growing up in Soviet-Union era Ukraine. In 1994, the duo moved to the US, where the family opened up their own dance studio (Val was actually a student before he was a star)! Long story short, the pair found their calling for dance and highlighted it on the hit show Dancing with the Stars. All three of the entertainers have been on DWTS for many seasons and have countless wins and appearances under their belts.
After DWTS, Maks and Val set off and hit the road with Maks and Val Live on Tour: Our Way. The show stopped at 46 cities in the summer of 2016 and was based on the brothers’ story of growing up and how they got to where they are today. Not only was the show immensely entertaining, but it was also inspiring. When thinking about the message behind the tour, Maks said that their story “is not unusual. There are a lot of people out there that go through the same set of obstacles and maybe lose hope at one point or another.” The show gave hope to those struggling, and was also a celebration of the relationship between the brothers.
Throughout the Maks and Val Live on Tour: Our Way shows, Maks’ wife, Peta Murgatroyd, made a few guest appearances. The couple was married in the summer of 2017 and with that, a new show was born. After the success of their first tour, Maks and Val made the family bigger and are bringing Peta along full-time for this year’s Live on Tour: Confidential.
So what can fans expect from a husband, wife, and brother who have taken the dance world by storm? Simply, a lot! Like their first tour, Live on Tour: Confidential is based on true family connections. Maks, Val, and Peta all believe that the greatest performances come from artists with deep emotional connections to their work, and this tour is no exception.
Confidential provides the deepest emotional connection possible, with the cast drawing on their own narratives, family bonds, lives, and love stories. It will be the team’s most honest show yet, revealing intimate hopes, secrets, and dreams. It will inspire and delight, and by learning a little more about Maks, Val, and Peta, you might learn a little about yourself! The trio will be accompanied by a dazzling cast of the industry’s best dancers and will tour nearly 50 cities all across the country.
