Country Balladeer

From his 2006 Nashville breakthrough album The Dollar, country singer/songwriter Jamey Johnson has forged his career in country music with honest, soul-searching music and lyrics.

Whether it’s a Hank Williams-style ballad or a rollicking honky tonk tune, the Alabama native’s new-traditional country style has won him legions of fans. His 2008 single, “In Color”, from the album That Lonesome Song, reached number nine on the Billboard country chart. The album was certified gold and Johnson took home the Song of the Year award at the 2009 Country Music Association Awards.

Johnson followed up his success in 2010 with The Guitar Song, an ambitious double album that found international critical acclaim. In 2012, he released Livin’ for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran, which included guests such as Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Leon Russell, and Kris Kristofferson.

After the success of his 2017 visit to Reno’s Grand Theatre, Jamey Johnson and his band are returning to the stage once more. Since Johnson doesn’t create a set list, no two shows are the same. “I don’t know what I’m going to do until I am standing there doing it,” he says. “That is a freedom I have enjoyed ever since I began doing this, the ability to try something new.”
