Summer Indie Pop with Anthem Rock Style
When Young the Giant released their debut self-titled album in 2011, two of their songs, Cough Syrup and My Body, both reached the top five on Billboard’s alternative rock charts. The Irvine, California, grown band forges a indie pop, anthemic rock sound, influenced by the world-wide roots of the members.
The New York Times would call their sophomore album, Mind Over Matter, “a sharp, electric album that has the cool reserve of the Cure matched with the arena mindset of…Muse.” They would hit the Top Ten of Rock Albums charts in 2018 with their next album, Mirror Master.
