Grand Sierra Resort and Casino honors a California Nurse Case Manager as September’s “Grand Hero”

RENO, Nev. (Oct. 17, 2022) – Janelle Wilson, Fremont, Calif., will make her way to “her favorite place” to enjoy a weekend of fun and relaxation at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR). Wilson is the property’s latest “Grand Hero.”

As a nurse case manager, Wilson works diligently behind the scenes, in what many consider to be the underdogs in health care, to ensure her patients have a safe discharge plan. No matter how busy she gets, Wilson tries her hardest to go the extra mile for her patients, by answering all questions and even driving to the pharmacy when they’re unable to. She does this with what coworkers describe as her “unforgettable” smile and an excitement to go to work every day.

Wilson will be treated to a two-night stay at GSR, $200 in dining credits and a $200 spa gift card. She considers GSR as her favorite place and is excited to get to the property to see the “Grand Hero” banner with her name hanging up upon her arrival.

The “Grand Hero” initiative was introduced in March 2021. Community members are asked to nominate deserving healthcare workers, first responders, teachers and other everyday heroes to receive a relaxing resort vacation as an expression of thanks for their efforts in supporting the local community throughout the past year.

Community members can nominate everyday heroes for GSR’s “Grand Hero” program by visiting grandsierraresort.com/gsr-cares. GSR will select a winner once a month and will reward the chosen hero with a complimentary two-night stay at Northern Nevada’s premier resort destination, a food and beverage credit to use at the wide variety of restaurants featured throughout the casino-resort and a spa certificate for The Spa at Grand Sierra Resort.
