RENO, Nev. (April 4, 2023) – Bay Area rapper, songwriter and producer Mistah F.A.B. is bringing his catalog of hyphy hits to LEX Nightclub on Saturday, May 20. Tickets are on sale now and start at $20, plus additional taxes and fees. Doors open at 10 p.m.
Emerging amidst the San Francisco Bay Area hyphy movement in the 1990s, North Oakland-based rapper Mistah F.A.B. defied expectations with an unlikely combination of street credibility, social consciousness and irrepressible goofiness. Sometimes hailed as the “crown prince” of the hyphy scene, F.A.B.’s sound is characterized by a bass-heavy beat, blaring synthesizers and a notable departure from the flamboyant materialism of mainstream rap. His 2005 release, “Son of a Pimp,” featured collaborations with many noted Bay Area rappers including Dre, E-40, Turf Talk, and G-Stack – as well as Kanye West – and boasted the smash hit, "Super Sic wit' It."
The multi-platinum songwriter and record producer has released a stream of successful mixtapes, albums and compilations, leading to more high-profile collaborations with major players like Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, B.o.B, Chris Brown and Eric Bellinger. He co-wrote and published the record-charting platinum lead single, “Headband,” off of B.o.B’s third album “Underground Luxury” (2013). The prolific artist also co-write "Loyal" by Chris Brown, which was awarded "Best Hip Hop Song of the Year" by the 2014 Soul Train Awards.
F.A.B.’s 2016 album, “Son of Pimp, Pt. 2,” secured the No. 3 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and was followed by a slew of mixtapes, including “Stan Pablo: 4506” (2017) and “It’s Y’all Fault I’m Rich” (2018) as well as two official albums in 2018 – “Thug Tears” and “Thug Tears 2.” Throughout his storied career, F.A.B. has remained committed to delivering authentic, and often irreverent, performances that keep him relevant as ever.
