RENO, Nev. (May 3, 2023) – The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) is proud to announce over $800,000 in charitable donations were made in 2022 through the property’s GSR Cares program. The GSR Cares program supports worthwhile initiatives as well as local and community-minded organizations and charities that help elevate our region and benefit those in need.
“Across our community, these organizations have made an incredible impact,” said Shannon Keel, general manager of Grand Sierra Resort. “They are an integral part of our community, and we remain committed to helping them create positive change through donations like these.”
The following organizations received donations from GSR in 2022:
- $665,000 to AAA Foundation
- $16,400 to Big Brothers Big Sisters
- $6,770 to Boys and Girls Club
- $36,674 to Children's Cabinet
- $4,275 to Communities in Schools
- $3,500 to Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful
- $9,305 to Make-A-Wish
- $12,176 to Robert Mitchell Elementary School
- $13,500 to Meruelo Scholarship
- $3,050 to Education Alliance
- $5,000 to Nevada Kid's Foundation
In addition to cash donations, GSR has provided over $30,000 for in-kind donations. These include services provided through the Grand Hero program, GSR’s initiative to help local health care workers, first responders, teachers and other everyday heroes to receive a relaxing resort vacation as an expression of thanks for their efforts in supporting the local community.
Since 2014, GSR Cares has provided over $1,000,000 in donations to over a dozen local charities and organizations throughout the region, including Make-A-Wish Northern Nevada, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Toys for Tots and local schools.
Since 2018, GSR and SAHARA Las Vegas have contributed over $2 million dollars to the AAA Foundation funding hundreds of scholarships for underprivileged students in Nevada. In 2022 the contribution from GSR to the AAA Foundation was $665,000.
