Banda Cuisillos, also known as the Cuisillos Band of Arturo Macías, emerged onto the regional Mexican music scene in 1987, thanks to the vision of clarinetist Arturo Macías. Hailing from Cuisillos, Jalisco, Mexico, the group, adorned in the distinctive attire of their region, initially participated in parades and festive events before venturing into the recording studio in the early 1990s to create their debut album, “Tengo una Novia.”

In a pivotal moment on their 1998 album, “Acuérdate de Mi,” the band decided to infuse their traditional sound with electric instruments. As the new millennium unfolded, they achieved national success with the platinum-certified album “Hasta la Siempre.” The pinnacle of their recognition came in 2002 when they clinched a Latin Grammy Award for the album “Puras Rancheras con Cuisillos,” earning them the title of the best banda music album. This triumph marked the beginning of a string of achievements, with subsequent Grammy Award nominations for notable albums like “Caricias Compradas,” “Vive y Déjame Vivir” and “Amor Gitano.”

Joining Banda Cuisillos on the Grand Theatre stage is Gerardo “Jerry” Coronel, a corrido and alterna movimiento singer/songwriter. He’s best known as the composer of the popular corrido “La Tacoma.” Doors open at 7 p.m.
