Grand Sierra Resort Appoints Cheraz Ecker General Manager

RENO, Nev. (April 3, 2026) – Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) has appointed Cheraz Ecker as general manager, reinforcing the company’s continued investment in leadership as the property prepares for its next phase of growth.

Ecker brings more than two decades of experience leading luxury resort and casino operations and joins GSR as the property continues expanding its role as a regional entertainment destination. Plans are underway for a new arena development that will expand Reno’s ability to host concerts, sporting events, and major live entertainment.

Throughout her career, Ecker has led operations at some of the most recognizable resort destinations in the hospitality industry. She most recently served as general manager of Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, where she helped drive strong financial performance while maintaining award-winning guest service standards. Earlier in her career she played key leadership roles at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore as well as The Venetian and The Palazzo in Las Vegas, gaining experience managing large-scale hospitality operations that combine gaming, lodging, dining and entertainment.

“Cheraz brings a global perspective and a deep understanding of luxury hospitality operations,” said Alex Meruelo, chairman and CEO of The Meruelo Group, which owns Grand Sierra Resort. “As we continue expanding Grand Sierra Resort and moving forward with the development of the new arena, her leadership will help position the property for long-term success.”

Ecker said she looks forward to guiding the property during a period of expansion and evolution.

“Grand Sierra Resort already has an incredible reputation as Reno’s premier destination resort,” said Ecker. “With the continued investment in entertainment and the development of the new arena, there is an opportunity to further elevate the guest experience and strengthen Reno’s position as a destination for visitors across the region.”
