Violent Femmes emerged from busking on street corners in Milwaukee into a folk-punk landmark. Formed by bassist Brian Ritchie and percussionist Victor DeLorenzo, the duo was joined by singer-guitarist Gordon Gano and recorded their self-titled debut album in 1983. The album, featuring seminal tracks like “Blister in the Sun,” “Add It Up” and “Gone Daddy Gone,” was eventually certified platinum, cementing the band’s status as an enduring voice of teenage frustration, quirky folk sensibility and punk attitude.
Over four decades later, the band has released ten studio albums, toured globally and inspired generations of indie, punk and alternative artists. Now celebrating their 45-year journey, the “45 Years of Violent Femmes Tour” offers a powerful retrospective of their career, blending landmark songs from the early years with the energy of their current performances. The band remains celebrated for crafting songs that are at once raw, acoustic, immediate and timeless, creating music that still resonates with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
With their signature intensity, brass-tinged backing horns, and a songbook built for both sing-along anthems and intimate confessionals, fans can expect an unforgettable night of nostalgia, rebellion and rich musicality. Doors open at 7 p.m.
