Celebrate Chinese New Year at Grand Sierra Resort

Reno’s premier resort-casino destination will mark The Year of the Tiger with Lion Dances, Kung Fu demonstrations and dining specials at The Grand Buffet and RIM Asian Bistro Feb. 4-5

RENO, Nev. (Jan. 18, 2022)– Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) is set to celebrate Chinese New Year with dining specials and special demonstrations Feb. 4 and 5. Look for traditional Chinese specialties in The Grand Buffet and RIM Asian Bistro plus traditional Lion Dances on the casino floor followed by Kung Fu demonstrations in front of LEX Nightclub on Friday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the New Year begins on Feb. 1 and marks the transition from the Year of the Ox to the Year of the Tiger. While the Year of the Rat (2020) was about survival, and the Year of the Ox (2021) was about anchoring ourselves in a new reality, the Year of the Tiger will be about making big changes, taking risks and being open to adventure.

To usher in the Year of the Tiger, The Grand Buffet will offer a special menu featuring dishes like whole roasted pig, Peking duck, stir-fried clams in black bean sauce, long life noodles, Shanghai shrimp stir-fry, Mandarin orange beef, shrimp cakes and malas fried peanuts. Plus, guests can enjoy buffet favorites including the Carving Station, Americana Station, Asian Wok Station, Pho Soup Station, Taco Bar, Sushi Station, Salad Station and Dessert Station. This special menu is available Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 for $49.99 per person or $23.99 for children ages five to 10.

At RIM Asian Bistro, guests can enjoy a special four-course menu for $58 per person. The meal begins with a tempura soft shell crab in spicy salt appetizer followed by sweet corn with crabmeat soup. Guests have a choice of either a light pan-fried pork chop with golden onion in mandarin sauce or stir-fried fresh prawn and asparagus in black bean sauce. A tiger tail donut with five spice hot chocolate rounds out the meal. The special menu is available Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb 5.
