Reno’s premier casino-resort destination to host spectacular tree lighting ceremony Thursday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

RENO, Nev. (Nov. 16, 2021) – ‘Tis the season for holiday cheer! Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) is Reno’s home for the holidays with a wide assortment of festive holiday activities, gaming promotions and giveaways. 

Holiday magic is in the air at GSR 

GSR is ready to celebrate the season with a special tree lighting ceremony Thursday, Nov. 18. The community is invited to revel in the holiday spirit beginning at 6 p.m. in the main lobby as the Depoali Middle School Choir sings holiday carols and Santa and Mrs. Claus spread holiday cheer with light refreshments including hot cocoa, hot and sparkling cider and cookies. Then, join GSR team members, the choir and other special guests as they light more than 130 Christmas trees around the resort including three trees amidst the resort rooftop and other holiday décor at 7 p.m. 

Spectacular winter cirque show “Holiday Dreams” returns to the Grand Theatre

Starting Saturday, Dec. 18, the Grand Theatre inside GSR will be home to “Holiday Dreams: A Spectacular Holiday Cirque!” for a very festive and fun limited engagement. “Holiday Dreams” is a unique holiday-themed cirque show with a fresh approach. The show features projections, holograms and an award-winning cast of acrobats, specialty acts and daredevils. The result is an exciting, high-energy production that is fun for the whole family. 

“Holiday Dreams” will perform daily at 7 p.m. from Saturday, Dec. 18 to Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. There will be an additional 3 p.m. performance on Dec. 25. On Jan. 1, the show will perform at 3 p.m. only. Tickets for “Holiday Dreams” are on sale now and start at $19.95, plus additional taxes and fees. Celebrate the season with delicious dining specials

There’s snowplace like The Ice Rink 

Fun for the whole family, The Ice Rink at GSR invites guests to glide and twirl around the magnificent outdoor rink while enjoying the heated resort pool, fire pits, a full-service bar with a seasonal cocktail menu and seasonal treats, including including s’mores kit ($11) and hot chocolate ($4), to warm the body and satisfy the spirit. Opening Thursday, Nov. 18, skate daily throughout the winter season from 4 p.m. through 8 p.m. Snow bunnies can reserve tickets for two-hour skate sessions for $16, including skate rentals, or can book ice time at $10 per hour. Pumpkin Pie Giveaway

A dash of pumpkin spice and everything nice! Prepare for your Thanksgiving dinner with GSR’s Pumpkin Pie Giveaway. Earn 500 base points on Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 4 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. to qualify. Players can then print out a voucher at any promotional kiosk and redeem for a pumpkin pie in front of LEX Nightclub from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Quantities are limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.

KTVN Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive

In the spirit of the season, GSR will also serve as the home of the 29th annual KTVN Share Your Christmas Drive By Food Drive on Friday, Dec. 10 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as The Governor’s Mansion in Carson and the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. 

Pictures with Santa

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Celebrate the season with complimentary pictures with Santa in the Kids Club at GSR on Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located on the Spa level, kids can also enjoy complimentary cookies and hot chocolate. 

Lights of Kindness

GSR will host the Lights of Kindness, northern Nevada’s largest holiday tree decorating contest to benefit local charities, presented by The Nevada Diabetes Association. Starting Tuesday, Dec. 14 through Friday, Dec. 31, decorated trees will be placed within a Holiday Tree Hunt throughout Reno’s premier resort-casino, where guests can vote for their favorite holiday tree. Each tree is dedicated to a local charity and for every vote cast, $1 will be donated to the nonprofit organization that tree represents. The top three trees collecting the most votes will win a grand prize donated by GSR.

Happy Noon Year!

Ring in the New Year early with GSR at their Noon Year’s Celebration! Starting at 12 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, celebrate at GSR with a Grand Countdown and the Big Win Drawings Finale, with drawings taking place every hour starting at 1 p.m. Grand Prize Drawing of both cash and free play will take place at 12:22 a.m. for $22,000 and $10,000 will be awarded at 2 a.m. And to sweeten the deal, enjoy complimentary champagne and cupcakes, served in front of LEX Nightclub. 

Bonus New Year’s Weekend Drawings

Celebrate 2022 all weekend long at GSR with its Bonus New Year’s Weekend Drawings! Drawings will take place Saturday, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. with $2,000 cash per drawing. At 11 p.m., one lucky winner will have the chance to win $10,000.
