RENO, Nev. (Oct. 4, 2021) – Meruelo Gaming congratulates Chief Strategy Officer Andrew Diss as one of this year’s “Emerging Leaders of Gaming 40 Under 40.” Diss has been recognized by Global Gaming Business magazine and The Innovation Group (TIG) as one of the most significantly impactful gaming industry professionals under the age of 40.
Diss serves as the Chief Strategy Officer for Meruelo Gaming, the hospitality and gaming divisions of the Meruelo Group, which includes Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Sahara Las Vegas and the event wagering provider for the Arizona Coyotes NHL team. In this role, he is responsible for executing the vision and direction set by ownership, as well as developing new lines of business in line with long-term strategic goals. Diss' diverse experience in business and government has helped the company navigate established markets like Nevada as well as emerging markets like Arizona.
Prior to this role, Diss served as the VP of Government Affairs handling the regulatory affairs for the Meruelo Group portfolio of companies across a wide range of industries, including hospitality and gaming, construction and engineering, professional hockey, television, radio, real estate, food services, financial services and private equity.
Before joining the Meruelo Group family of businesses, Diss worked in both state and federal government positions and has amassed significant legislative experience in Nevada, California, Arizona and Washington D.C. He also serves on the boards of the Nevada Resort Association, the Washoe County School District Capital Funding Protection Committee and as Chairman of the Reno Charter Committee.
The Innovation Group, organizers of the Emerging Leaders of Gaming program, and Global Gaming Business magazine (GGB) announced the latest class of individuals to be named to the “Emerging Leaders of Gaming 40 Under 40,” a program that recognizes young professionals making significant impacts in the casino gaming industry.
The winners were selected from more than 125 candidates nominated either by a colleague who recognized their commitment and dedication to the gaming industry or by themselves, in the interest of inclusivity and with an appreciation for self-starters.
